Is this bacon actually “thick cut”?
Yes! These slices are modeled after pork belly slabs, providing a much heartier and more substantial “mouthfeel” than thin, crispy plant-based bacon alternatives.
Can I use this for “bacon bits” or lardons?
Absolutely. For a professional touch, try cutting the slices into 1/2-inch strips (lardons) before browning them to use as a savory topping for mashed potatoes or salads.
Do I need to keep this frozen?
One of the best features of Lypid bacon is that it is shelf-stable at room temperature for up to 12 months. You only need to refrigerate it once the inner pouch has been opened.

Justine Lunzer (verified owner) –
This has the flavor of pork or very thick cut bacon, not a crispy type bacon. We fried this, chopped it up and used it in one of our traditional bean soup recipes and it was delicious. We ate a few slices plain as well, and again, it is delicious. We think it is going to work really well for some of our recipes that would traditionally call for a fatty pork type flavor like our slow cooked Serbian Sarma (we make it vegan now of course).
