Vegan Hot Honey Popcorn

Equipment

  • Large pot with lid or air popper
  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula
  • Large mixing bowl
  • measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels or ~10 cups air-popped popcorn
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 cup vegan hot honey or agave
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional, for extra heat
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt or to taste

Instructions
 

Pop the popcorn:

  • If using a pot: Heat the oil over medium heat in a large pot. Add 3–4 popcorn kernels and cover. When they pop, add the rest of the kernels, cover, and shake occasionally until popping slows.
  • If using an air popper: Pop according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Prepare the hot honey:

  • In a medium saucepan, warm the vegan hot honey over low heat for 1–2 minutes. Stir in cayenne pepper and salt if using.

Coat the popcorn:

  • Transfer popcorn to a large mixing bowl. Pour the warmed hot honey over the popcorn while stirring gently to coat evenly.

Serve immediately:

  • Enjoy warm, or let cool slightly for a crunchy texture. Optional: drizzle extra vegan hot honey for more sweetness and heat.
